This thing is gonna look neat when you have the engine and everything mocked into place with the body off. Cant wait to see new pictures.
Keep up the good work,

Yeah! need more pictures!

Did you mention what yer gonna do for the ECU on that rig Barak? I'll go back and read past posts if it's back there a ways, just lemmee know, cuz I'm curious. I've got a 3.4 out in the shop, but no ECU. I should re-read Ed's stuff that he sent me too,cuz I'm sure it's mentioned in there too.

more pictures please...

I'll be taking more pics soon once I get the a-arms on , then as I put more of the suspension stuff on.It should go pretty quick , I pre wrote all the torque specs on a piece of paper so I don't have to take the shop manual out there with me and get it all dirty.

As for the ECU , the stock 2.8 is supposed to work fine with the 3.4.It takes a little bit of driving for it to 'learn' the new stuff. It is mentioned in the write up stuff that Ed was giving out. Also , I did read somewhere that someone had put an ECU from a diferent engine in there , a 3.1 I think , which is pretty close to the same anyway , but supposedly it had more chance for a small gain in performance.I would have to find that article again to see exactly what it said.As long as you have an ECU from a 2.8 or 3.1 you should be fine.

Ok , I know I promised pics , but the battery is charging again , and don't have time to wait today. So far I have the a-arms on both sides , the axle is in with the diff drop brackets on , lockright in the axle , torsion bars on , both balljoints on the passenger side , and the upper control arm on the passenger side.I have to fix the one big bolt on the diff drop bracket on the drivers side , the part that screws into the frame came apart , so I will give it a quick tack weld to hold it so I can get the bolt all the way in.One more day and the front should be mostly done with brakes and hubs put on.I'll get pics tomorow , I promise
Anyway , with those lower control arms on , so far its been a breeze. The hardest part I did today was putting the front axle on.That can be a pain by yourself , but I managed Just not enough time in the day after work , and before dinner , I make the most progress on the weekends usualy.

Ok , as promised here are the latest pics of the front end stuff I have done. This includes one side with lower , upper control arms on , lower and upper ball joints , axle , torsion bars , and the backing plate on one side that goes behind the rotor.I didn't have time to do anything on it today , so have to wait until tomorow to work on it a little more.

Well , the front end is pretty much done now , just need the tie rods and shocks put on , all the hub , rotors , calipers , ball joints , control arms are on.I think there is something I didn't do with the torsion bars though , I can turn the big bolt(27MM) by hand untill it gets tight to hold the round part in the groove , but the bolt is sticking out almost all the way.I know when I adjusted the bars on the truck before , it was sticking out a little bit only , maybe 1/2" or so , and by the time I was done it was maybe a little over an inch sticking out the back.Right now on one side its sticking out at least 2" , maybe closer to 2 1/2 , and the other side is close to 2" before it got tight enough to hold the bracket.

Anyone have any ideas what I might have done wrong? In the instructions it says to index the bars , but thats because your not taking everything off , just the bars out. With me , everything was off , even the control arms.So , I just put it back together how it was , but it doesn't seem like there is any tension on the bars?

This is EXACTLY what I was pondering last weekend. Thanks for asking it Barak. I picked up some junkyard control arms to reposition my shock mounts, and I also intend to install my Darlington diff drops. I will be awaiting an answer also. TIA

Yup , I'll be taking pics of that once I get to it I'm trying to get the suspension stuff all done and the tires on before I get to that point. Then the next step is to build the support cage for the fuel cell and mount that in and start running the fuel and brake lines. Also put the engine in and get that started.

But I still have to get the torsion bar issue sorted out and figure out what I didn't do to make them work.According to the shop manual , there is supposed to be a master spline on them somewhere , but I didn't see any splines that looked different , or any other way that they were marked.I did put them in the right sides though as they are marked L and R Other than that I just stuck them together how they were before.
