Well , got the fuel cell all fixed up , and the fuel hose on , had to splice it with old hose and new hose as the filler neck on the truck is bigger than the other end of the hose
Anyway , thats all done.I also have the back pucks on , the 4 skinny ones.I was then going to put the middle ones on where they go through the top , but it seems the stock pads are too thick on the bottom. When I put the bolt through , there isn't enough thread to even start the nut.But on the back , they fit fine , with even an inch of thread to spare. Not sure whats up with that , these are the new ones Jerry sent me , part sits on the top of the frame , and a pin goes through the rubber piece and joins through the bottom of the frame. But the bottom piece is like 2" think , plus you add in the top part is 1" , and the lift puck , 3" , thats 6" right there.I think the bolts are just 7".Also add in the frame part and the washer , your almost at 7" there.Maybe I might have to cut some of the rubber down to make it work , and also a part of that pin.I can't really see any other way for the other pucks to fit otherwise.Maybe tomorow I'll actualy have some time to work on it , stupid late truck at work , making my days over 12 hours , no time to play

Well , I modified the stock body mount pads , and put all the lift pucks in.I haven't torqued them down yet , thats tomorow project.I also wired inmost of the engine , except for a few wires I have no idea on.I went and lost my before pics of the wiring , so theres 4 wires I am at a loss for right now.I do have a post of them with pics in the tech section for anyone that knows the wiring The lift is pretty much done other than tightening the bolts , and I have to adjust the steering extension yet.

A couple more things under the hood yet , and then shes ready to fire up.I'm not going to put the fenders and stuff on just yet , will wait to see if it beathes or not.Once I know its running , then I'll finish that off and take it for the alignment and have the Y pipe put on.

I might start the power windows and locks tomorow after I get the lift all done.Untill I figure out those last wires , can't really start it up.The power windows looks like maybe a 3 hour job or so , maybe less seeing I have half the stuff apart

Anyway , its getting there , and thats the main thing.

All but 2 of the body mounts are tightened down. The 2 that aren't had bad nuts and bolts , and of course the only place that has 7" bolts is closed on Saturday I bolted the front clip on , got the steering extension all bolted on , e-brake is all set , tranny shifter is on and hooked up , might have to adjust it a little , but it seems to shift ok , and so does the transfer case shifter.

All wires are hooked up and ready to go.Still have to decide exactly where I want the remote oil filter and mount it , fill the rad up , put the battery in , and some gas , and hope it fires up.

Oh , can someone do a quick test for me.I know on the main harness plug that goes next to the one off the distributor , the pink wire is the + and the grey is the - .But , the distributor has 2 wires the same color , and I can't remember if its the same , or the other way around.I am hooking my Jacobs back up , and I can't remember as I put in a new distributor , so its not marked , and the old one is gone allready.Just need someone to put a voltage tester to it with the key on.I forgot to mention , its the 2 plugs that go onto the coil that I need to know the + and - on the distributor harness

Nothing seemed to want to go right for me today I was trying to replace a nut on one of my brake lines that was stripped , and my flaring toold won't work , it just kept pushing the line through , no matter how tight I tightened it.So , I bought another one , same thing , so I tried a piece of new line , same thing

Then I decide to work on my oil filter unit so I can fire up the truck , ends up I misplaced a piece that screws onto the adapter , then the filter screws onto it.So , after an hour of looking , I find it , it fell out of the box. Then after I mount it , I go to put the hoses on the other end , and I don't have a 22 wrench. So , I couldn't finish that either.

About the only thing I did get done was finish wiring the cell and the grounds at the back and plug those and the pump in , so thats all ready to go.Once I get the oil filters on , I can fire it up.

Oh , the gas guage won't work either.I took the guage cluster apart , an lo and behole , its a circuit board , not wired in there at all.so , if its possible , I will have to change the whole guage cluster , or I will have to find somewhere to mount the fuel guage itself , which I have no idea where I would do that.I still have things to mount in there , and considering the troopers have no dash , it makes it alot harder.I'll have to find out how much of an issue it would be to get a cluster thats all wires in side that you can actualy change the guages out , and rewire it for the fuel guage to work.

Well , did a few things today.I got the last 2 bolts in for the body lift , thats all done , got my front brake line on and started filling the fluid , then found I have a little problem.Near the back of my brake line that I ran , theres a small hairline crack in it That means I have to either replace the whole line again , or get one of those splice peices and just put a splice in there.I played around with my Jacobs , and had no luck with it.

I filled up the rad with fluid , so thats ready to go , my oil filters are on and ready to go.I hooked up the battery to fire it up , it turns over fine , but no spark I put the stock coil plugs back on , and same thing , not getting any spark at all.The fuel is coming in fine , so the pump works. Not sure what I did wrong to get no spark at all

Also , I noticed that little pan on the transmission leaks once the pump isnide starts going when the key is in the 'ON' position. So , I'll have to take the small pan off and use some RTV.The bigger pan is fine as I got a new gasket on there when I did the filter.Thats an easy fix , so is the brake line , depends what I decide to do there.

Also , I'm still trying to figure out the gugae problem with that stupid circuit board style they have.Seems you can get all kinds of kits out there , but they are all mechanical , so you have to add more lines to your engine , something I don't want to do.

So , for right now , I'm racking my brain trying to figure out the no spark problem I have.I think once I get spark , it should fire up

IT IS ALIVE!!! MUHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Well , after 2 days of playing with the spark and fuel issues , I got them resolved. The fuel issue was a missing nut that holds a plate down on the injectors , keeping them from popping up and spraying fuel all over the place.Easy fix The spark issue , I still have no idea why it was doing what it did , but after changing the coil , I finaly got power to the coil.Still no spark though , untill I took the new plug wires off , and put the old ones on , it fired right up.I will play with the new wires , maybe one or two of them are dead or something.

Anyway , the truck starts and runs , idles at about 1500 so far , didn't run it long due to another issue I have to resolve.Oneof my tranny lines is spewing out fluid , so I'll have to redo the fitting , as thats where its leaking from. Also , with open headers , its loud It actualy sounds louder than a harley Also the belt squeals , probably due to being new , but they have stuff to spray on there that quiets it.Oh , one other thing I need to do is bleed the steering. After running it for a few seconds , the wheel started going crazy in my hands. The manual says to open some valve to bleed it , but doesn't go into detail on how to bleed it , or where this valve is , as I looked and didn't see anything

Anyway , I'm happy , it fired up , runs good so far , and I haven't even reset the TPS or set the timing I get compliments from everyone that walks by on the street too

congrats!

Question: Are you gonna repaint that bad boy once you get it going? It would be a shame to get it so nice on the inside only to have a bad paintjob on the outside...

A paint job is last thingon my list right now.Stillgot a ton of stuff to do yet.All the inside stuff has to be done , put my winch back on , get my sliders done and installed , all the stereo stuff , gps , power windows , locks.Eventualy I will fix up the body a little and make it a little nicer. But for now priority is to get it on the road so I can drive it
A few minor things to deal with yet , plus I have to get my electric fan installed yet too for cooling. All in good time

Ok , heres the latest update. After it ran for a bit , I fixed the tranny line that was leaking.By then my batery was dead , so I took it in to recharge it.I charged it for almost 2 days , untill the light said it was charged.I then put on my grounding straps and voltage regulator that I had ordered , a good one I paid 19.99 for

Anyway , I put the battery back in the truck , turned the key , and no power at all.I got that fixed today , it was a fusible link in the black box behind the passenger headlight.Easy and cheap fix.One of the ends had come off , the wire was corroded so I replaced the wire and the tips.I now have power.

It was turning over , then I ended upw ith a small fire under the truck There was way too much fuel going into the TBI , forcing it into the chamber and out my headers. Not a big deal , I have an extinguisher handy So I figured ok , the plate holding the injectors down wasn't on good enough , but when I looked the fuel was coming out the bottom , in a faucet on type of way.I figured ok , bad O-rings , easy fix.I replaced both O-rings , top and bottom , turned the key on , same problem. The fuel was coing out so fast it filled up the TBI bowl almost instantly. It wasn't a nice even cone shaped spray.

I then did what the manual says to test things. One test is to unplug the injectors and watch for fuel.Well , even with the injectors unplugged , the same thing was happening , extreme amounts of fuel pouring out of the injectors. So , according to the manual , my injectors are no good. This is a Holley 3210 TBI , and I believe I read a post somewhere about someone having problems getting new injectors.I sent an email to Holley to see whats up , and if they can get me some new injectors. This of course means more delays to me Here it should be out running on the streets already.Anyway , if the injectors aren't available , I guess I'll have no choice but to get a 4.3 TBI , and redo everything. That means rewiring the TBI , probably changing out the spacer , all the TPS , IAC and stuff. This means more time and money. Both I don't want to put a lot into this when I'm so close.I'm hoping I can just get some new injectors and be done with it.

Ok , todays update is I picked up a 4.3 TBI and installed it.Justhave the cable bracket and cable to hook back up , but I tested it and it works fine with no leaks at all.Truck fires up right away.

On the bad side for today , I noticed something I didn't like.It looks like its leaking a little oil by the bottom of the tranny bellhousing. Now , I see 2 possibilities , either the seal went out , which I had just replaced when I did the engine . I hope its not that , or it means I have to take it all apart again , something I don't really want to do , but if its puking out oil , it has to be fixed. The second option , and I hope its what it is , is the oil pan gasket where that U shape is is leaking. If so , thats a little easier to fix without dropping the tranny. Not an easy job , but still less work than taking the tranny off and putting in a new rear seal.It always seems to be something , you start to make progress , then take 4 steps backwards

Anyway , the truck runs , no tranny fluid leak , no gas leak anymore. So , now its fix the oil leak.
