i get 75 miles off the first 1/8 and 100 miles off the next 5/8. the guage is just for refrence. i'd be ok if it just said "you're down to 1/4, get gas". fill it up and drive it some distance you know, then fill it up again and see how much gas per distance. i bet the odometer is off. 100 miles to 16 gallons equals leak unless you're running a 454ci or let it idle for hours. gas would literally drip out of the tail pipe!

yea drive somewhere with a friend and have your odometers set to 0 and see if your odometer reads less than your friends to check your odometer readings

in my 91 YJ, from bone dry empty, I can put 5 gallons in and the guage reads full, add 2 more gallons and it pegs out full tank, but is hardly even a 1/4 tank of gass! This is normal when the sending unit float has been tinkered with when having the fuel tank sending unit gasket recall done or from other activities.... My situation isn't that rare, nore is it common. Don't rely on your guage. Filler up all the way, not just when that vapor recovery thing shuts the nozzle off at the pump, all the way, gas at the mouth of the filler tube, then run her normally. If you still only get 100 miles for a tank, consider getting a locking gas cap, consider getting a new cat converter, consider fixing the leak, consider replacing the charcoal vapor bottle (its the strange tank under your w/s wiper fluid tank with 3, 4 oe 5 tubes coming out of it) or checking your odometer calibration. If not any of these things, dono........

I've gotten used to having no gas gauge. It's a good memory exercise. I make a mental note of the indicated mileage when I top off and 200 to 250 miles later I do it again. I also have a twenty gallon tank, good thing too. Today I realized I couldn't remember when I last bought gas or what the mileage was when I did. When I filled up I wasn't surprised to pump 15 gallons. Guess I need to exercise harder! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
