Its pretty clear on the new ones as well... just look at the sizes <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

And yes, bias ply tires are known for overall better sidewalls from an off-road standpoint. The direction of the plies makes the sidewalls more puncture-resistant; and bias ply tires often have a more aggressive sidewall lugs than their radial counterparts.
