I've been doing alot of reading and some people say to use synthetic oil and others say use the "normal everyday" motor oil. The reason I'm asking is because old Herc is coming due for an oil change.. Also how do get the oil filter out of there?? It looks like a tight squeeze unless I take the battery out..

You can use whatever you decide you want to use. If you like a particular oil or brand or weight then use it. Theres no special rule for the sporty.

I always take the battery out when taking out the oil filter. It's alot easier to get to the filter and it also gives me a chance to clean the terminals & the battery posts. Just make sure you have your oil drain pan under the sporty when changing the filter. It doesn't stay in the filter very well. I also usually shove a rag under the the filter itself. That will help a little bit.
