I saw that study years ago too. And yet I continued to use Fram filters and I never had any problems. Then I started lurking here...

They are also "down" on Fram products. In fact, I think the guy who did this original filter study also participates in this oil forum.

What persuaded me to stop using Fram filters was the fact that you can obtain Purolator filters cheaper and they are better quality.
