Water (distilled) works well to clean out carbon too. Kind of like a steam cleaner. Use a vacuum line (PCV) to suck it slowly into your intake manifold..

Also may want to think about changing out the spark plugs after the sea foam treatment. Or, just wait to use Sea Foam until you are ready to change sparkplugs. And yes, from what I've read on JU it would be a good idea to change oil after using.

Seafoam comes in a pressurized spray can that will atomize the chemical as you spray it down your carb using the straw that comes with it. I believe the pressurized spray version is called "Deep Creep" and cost roughly the same as standard Seafoam. According to the can, it's basically pressurized Seafoam. This will at least reduce your worries of pouring it in too fast. Good Luck!

I just Deep Creeped my 95 last week. It has ~130k and blew out a bunch of smoke afterwards. Then, I really felt that it immediatley ran with a bit mre response. Note that I am definitely going through oil, and am not losing it on the ground. (Valve seals...???) And when I did the t-belt, the intake was fairly slimy with oil-goo that I cleaned out.

So I then used the Deep Creep on the wife's 98. (~65k and no signs of any oil issues.) It only blew a little smoke out, and I can't say that I felt the same about improved respinse either.

Bottom line, I think that the higher miles 95 needed it, and benefited from it.

Also, the 95 had developed a bad lifter tick. I put a can of regular Seam Foam into the crank and after a 200 mile x2 trip, the tick seems to be gone.

So far I am a happy camper... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Did you leave the Seafoam in the oil as you drove the entire 400 mile trip? I'm just wondering since the instructions on the can didn't really say anything about weather to leave it in or not- or how long it can be left in. I basically thought it was to be used as a pre oil change "flush". I asked this question before since i have a vehicle with lifter tick and am to lazy to remove the lifters and clean em out in diesel fuel. The responses at the time wasn't too definite.

Joel,

I seem to have cured my lifter tick at least for now. I used 1/2 a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil.
