Is it just a PDF file or is it a disc with the PDF file and the windows version of Acrobat Reader also and it autostarts an executable file that runs the version of the Reader on the disc to read the PDF?

If its just a PDF file you should be able to read it on your Mac. I bring PDF's from my PC at work to my Mac all the time, no problem.
