Wax here is a good chance to do an upgrade to u-bolts on the driveshafts. I did this with my 86 after i started throwing u-joints due to them wearing in the yoke. there is a write up somewhere, but basically you pull the yokes, drill the threads out of the holes and take a burr to the backside and make a flat spot for the nuts and washers. it makes for a few good hours of jeep time, and gets rid of the straps that will stretch over time. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> josh

Ahhh... so that's where u-bolts go. I had seen them on the sites, but didn't know their place.
I would upgrade now, but I need to use this as a daily driver for a while. However, I'll add that to my ever-increasing list of things I want to do.

BTW, the 1/4 inch 12 point socket took 'em off with ease. Now I just need to finish the job.
