stays in 4X2 just the same as 2wd is without manual locking hubs. Not really hurting anything you are just engaging the front driveshaft, diff and half shafts but if your hubs are unlocked so the power doesnt hook up to your front wheels. And no this is not bad for your truck you just may hear a few more things spining while you are driving.
