You could be right, I've just seen a lot of people on the board have issues with leaks or burning oil after switching to sythethic, it's empirical not proof

thanks for all the feed back!

the oil is clean, no grey goo. is starts fine, if you didn't see the smoke you'de never know. its definetly coolant though! when the engine was cool and i removed the ODD looking plug and turned it over, noting pumps out of the plug hole. but, if i turn it over when she's hot i get coolant steam coming out of the hole. i'm hoping that its the intake manifold leaking just over that cylinder and not the head gasket. but until i do a comp test i won't know. i tell ya its weird! not the typical symptoms of head gasket problems. i fear a cracked head!

When you pull the lower intake, look closely at the studs to see if any are rusty. If so, you've got a coolant leak between the stud and the cooling port. You can have a machine shop true the lower intake, but I've been told by Mitsu mechanics that a spray copper gasket sealant should be applied to the gaskets used between the heads and lower intake to stop leaks there. The MLS gaskets can be tough to seal.

I wouldn't run 0w30 or anything thin like that, otherwise synth is just like dyno oil except made in a lab. The main benefit of synthetics is the resistance to viscosity breakdown and decreasing lubricity over time.

The people who had leaks after switching to synthetic probably had leaks before, but never noticed because they weren't speding $7.00 per quart for oil

Kinda reminds me of some of my favorite customers. Like the guy that brought his Blazer back because the HVAC blower fan makes noise "ever since" I flushed the coolant

I guess "my" big chunk of sandpaper got sucked up through the recirc inlet while I was working on that cabinet
