I searched but could not find this. Anyone know the size of the nut that's holding the pitman arm to the steering gearbox? 30mm socket is the bigest I have.

Thanks.

I dunno if IFS and SA are the same size, but the IFS pitman arm nut is 32mm Expect to use a breaker bar/cheater pipe

Well then don't listen to me...

Getting the nut off is the easy part, by the way. You are in for a real wrasslin' match with the arm...

Yup, it's a 32mm, I picked up a crapsman one for about $6. Jeff is right tho, gettin the arm off of the splines is a real pain. Get yourself a decent pittman arm puller i.e. NOT harbor freight, I broke one of those in half and the half that came off almost took my head out I got one from auto bone and it worked for me. Soak the splines in PB blaster or your favorite brand of penetrating oil a couple of days in advance, then use a good long beaker bar, mine's a 18 incher and it came off super easy, well, once I got the right puller that is

Good Luck!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
My buddy just had to cut his arm off of the box. He soaked it for weeks, used some heat, beat on it, used every puller he could get his hands on and still wouldn't come off. Good luck!

+1....Get an angle grinder and cut it off. Just dont cut into the splines. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor cause them suckers are practically welded on there, puller or not.

I usually find applying the puller and leaving it on and tight for a while helps. Periodically snug it up and also levering down on the end of the pitman arm, while the puller is on helps, too. And be sure to apply some anti-sieze on the splines before installing the arm.
