Hello im ray from miami, ive been driving jeeps for a while but now just bought a 98 sportage and found like many of you the front hubs dont lock. i ordered the warn manual hubs today, they will take two days to come. the shop quoted 135.00 to install them. what im asking is, is this something i can do myself with basic tools? is it worth paying the shop to do it? those of you who've done it could you give me a rundown of the specific process. i've replaced struts and springs before and other auto parts. any advice helpful.

Very basic tools....
One spanner/socket for the 6 bolts that hold the FW hub the the wheel hub (10 mm IIRC), and maybe a Phillips head screwdriver to replace the cam ring in the wheel hub (depending on which model you originally had). Twenty mins max each side, don't need to jack it up, take a wheel off or anything.......
2002 Sporty , Ironman 2.5" spring, 2" body, 15 x 7 ROH wheels, K&N, 15 x 10.5 Simex Centipedes, Powerchip 91.

If your hubs were vacumn activated there are a couple of air lines to block. Try a search I think there is an exact procedure I read somewhere. I think it is a good idea to do away with the auto-hubs and replace them with manuals

The Warn hubs come with a very detailed instruction sheet with pictures.
