oem are usually best for anything. unless you are getting into vented x drilled and stuff. i used kem...big mistake! wagner kinda stunk too. i do ok with raybestos. as for rotors, id like to know whats better too.

I've have Hawks brake pads in the front, they're OK about as noisy as the OEM.

Hard to tell whats good and whats crap, just stay away from the lower grade DuraLast semi metallics, they squeal like hell

I have had good luck with OEM pads and shoes and I do not find them noisy. The FJ rotors that are on my front axle are Beck Arnely (sp) that I got at NAPA. They are holding up great. If you are going to be doing wheeling in mud, even a little bit, stay away from cross-drilled or cross-grooved rotors. The mud gets into the holes/groves and wears the pads very quick. Stay away from high speed rated pads, they do not work until they are hot, which will not happen on trail running.

Brembo rotors and Akabono pads work really well for me.

I've found the best pads for the money are PBR, Axxis, Repco, Bendix. These's are just some of the
under brand names that are made in the same plant in AUSTRALIA. These pads are pretty cheap and dont fade or dust.

I've got the Beck Arnley rotors too on my truck, just replaced them last week, name of the pads escapes me tho.... you might want to reback your bearings while you're in there, you're taking the hub off anyway to get to those rotors, well at least I had to on my '86

I think Napa OEM replacement pads are good. I have them on the front and rear of our 1990 Supra and no problems. Only 3 ways to make a brake pad... riveted or glued. Semi metalic, organic or full metalic (race pad). then you got shims or no shims. I don't see the point in blowing a lot of money on OEM pads. I have Autozone shoes on the back of my truck for the past 3yrs, no issues, still lots left and no noise. the front I have napa's that came with my D44 reman loaded calipers. no noise, lots left.
