I have had good luck with OEM pads and shoes and I do not find them noisy. The FJ rotors that are on my front axle are Beck Arnely (sp) that I got at NAPA. They are holding up great. If you are going to be doing wheeling in mud, even a little bit, stay away from cross-drilled or cross-grooved rotors. The mud gets into the holes/groves and wears the pads very quick. Stay away from high speed rated pads, they do not work until they are hot, which will not happen on trail running.
