Its OK, you're defintely not the only one who thinks the things you posted are the case. I'm sure you heard them from someone else who heard and/or assumed the same things. Marlin Crawler's web page was actually the first place to call the T100 diff an 8.4", and unfortunately that misnomer kinda stuck.

Actually, one of the things that got me looking into Toyota diff info 7 years ago or so was that I wanted to find out if I could put an E-locker in my T. I learned a lot from that research and that's when I started the Diff Info page. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
