One of the girls in our local club used pinion drive flanges from Isuzu Dana 44 axles on her Dana 300 so that she could run a flanged (easily bolt on) driveshaft in her rig.

You might want to try one or two of those. It may even mean one or two less driveshaft(s) to have made.

I actually read the same thing. I've got a spare rear Rodeo shaft, so I can use the flanges for my new front shaft when the SAS takes place. I've got Jerry hunting for a couple of the D44 pinion flanges now.

Tad - I really haven't planned on going with the twin stick right now. Maybe later when I upgrade to 4:1, but for now, the stock shifter should be fine.

I just got back from picking up my tranny. I went ahead and got a dip stick and TV cable as well. I'm really impressed with the shop that built it. They offer a 90 day warrenty, but since I won't be installing it just yet, they won't start the 90 days untill they inspect the install, up to 10 days after I get it on the road. I definately won't mind an expert looking over the finished product once I finish with it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

andre,I would definitley do the twin stick conversion since it's apart and it's a matter of making a shifter after grinding the shift rail,nice article in this months Crawl mag,about using shifter cables instead of hard linkage lines for twin sticks,3 sticks etc.etc.
Gives the option of mounting the actual shifters about any where.



Are sure about this?I just looked under my blazer,the stock adapter for it has the normal chevy 4 bolt pattern at the tranny (th700) and has a 6 bolt pattern at the TC-2bolts per side plus 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom.

I miss-quoted that Doug. The stock adapter does have 4-bolts at the trans, and 6 at the T-case.

Yeah, the more I understand how a twin stick is used, the more I think it might be a good idea to go ahead and do it. I'll have to look into the cable setups. The only ones I've seen are the standard linkage.

Kinda spendy, but man are they swweeeeeetttt. Not all that hard to adapt to the D300.

And, if you're tearing the D300 down, you might as well modify the shift rails for FWD HI. It's pretty quick and easy and could be useful sometime even if you don't think you'll want it right now.

Make sure it's 6-bolt at the T-case if you're buying this sight unseen. There are 5-bolt versions too (NP231 t-case from S series I think???).

I really like the flexibility of the cable shifters. The two that I have seen are the AA one you're running, and the one from Whaley Enterprises 300 cable shifter

I've had trouble finding a price on the AA shifter. The images on the AA site is not working, but it lists a price of $138. Is that right? The Whaley shifter goes for $270 and is a bit bulky.

I wasn't planning on tearing into the T-case right now, so I'll probably wait on the FWD hi mod. That would be too much justification to go ahead and install the 4:1 gears while I'm in there, and that's just not in the cards right now.


I was looking at the throtle control yesterday, and how the TV cable needs to mount. The articles I've found call for the TV cable to be mounted 1 3/32" from the centerline of the centerline of the throtle shaft.

The stock throtle controler is a plastic half circle, that is only about 1 1/8" radius. I'm thinking that to mount the TV correctly, I'll need to epoxy an extension to the bottom of the throtle control to get the right position. I could modify the throtle cable bracket to also hold the TV cable.

I'm starting to be able to visualize how this is all going to fit together.
