Planning the coilover conversion...id like to keep my 4wd operational but it requires some custom 300m axles...they are $760 for the pair...would it be a good idea to have some spacers machined that would space the axles out from the axle housing to make up the difference???

I don't think it would be a problem on the driver's side at all (its built a lot like a rear axle with a bearing supporting the shaft), but the passenger's side stub shaft doesn't have very good support. I'd think spacers would make it even more floppy to start with and it would wear out more quickly and soon get even worse.

The other good thing about the custom longer shafts is that it would lessen the angle that the joints operate at.

That's a WHOLE LOTTA money though. What all does it include? Just shafts, or is that with the fancy new inner CV's and stock outers? Too bad its still not very strong.

Somebody in the desert race business should get Bobby Long to start making full chromo/300m inner and outer joints and shafts. Might as well keep going and upgrade to 30 spline at the hubs and diffs while they were at it too. It would cost a fortune but...

Just the 300m axles and some high angle inner boots...i was thinking the same, it would be nice to convert to some 930CV joints...i wonder if porche axles are longer anyway...there has got to be a cheaper way to keep the 4wd...unless of course i could get somebody to roll out a 1-off axle set...imagine it would cost just as much...

That seems like a ripoff then. Polyperformance used to sell some 300m axles for straight axle Toys and I thought they were about half that price (and a lot more material!)

Total Chaos is selling them exclusively im sure they are just having them made my an outside source...any big companies that could cut an axle like that if i sent in maybe the shaft of my stock CVs and asked for it 3.25" longer.

tried talking to Bobby Long about the axles...seems he's out of action for a bit...so called up offroad warehouse and they sold me everything around wholesale prices...saved a few hundred bucks. List of details follows...

Front:
Fox 2.5 pro series coilovers 8" travel, 600 lb coils, keeping the stock tie rod ends until they wear out then probably going to have marlincrawler make me some custom rods with fj-80 ends.

Rear:
Selling the superlift so the 2" AAL and blocks go with it. Still looking for ideas, id like to keep my stock leaf springs.
Ill probably do an offroad solutions lift shackle and ubolt flip. I need to do something about my crooked overload springs, any way to do this without replacing the springs?

Front:
Is 600 going to be enough? I've seen most Tundra upgrade suspensions come with 800... Figured our T's were relatively close in weight.

Rear:
Les Schwab sells leaf spring retainers... As for extended shackles...

Have you seen the spring clamp on a stock early Toy rear spring? You could copy that by bending some strap into a U, drill it and put a bolt and sleeve through it, and then weld the strap to the overload (it won't hurt the overload, especially out near the end of it). I'll see if I can find a pic...
