 Timing belt alignment?

I've finally got the Heads on and it's Timing Belt time. I'm wondering how important it is that the Alignment marks on the timing belt line up with the marks on the crank/pulley's and stuff. I can't seem to get them all to line up.

The thing is I have a new tensioner that I haven't even taken the pin out of it, so there's no tension on the belt and I'm having trouble getting it togo on. I've compared this belt and the old and they match up size wise.
I guess it just wants to be a pain.

The pulley that turns the cam gears is not in a one to one relatioship, so just getting the marks to line up might not show its in time, there is a procedure to make sure that they are in proper syc. Dan
