...ONE LONG POST...(help me out here!)
Ok im gonna go into town in the next couple of days or buy stuff online (probly both) im Focusing on engine stuff since this monty hasnt run in four years <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. Whatever you think is best for me to get this Monty Up and Running Post em here! (price dont matter just post em' up!) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

1.Headers-people say that stock headers are usually cracked after awile i checked them the looked fine but im gonna get some new ones at some time since there not essential right now. When I do What should i get? ill probly get them online so if u know any site with monty header post em!

2.Carb-My carb is a <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> even rebuilt what im want a new one what do you suggest? Probly get this too online...

3.???-When driving 2days ago all was fine with the rebuilt carb until after hitting third gear for the 4th time the engine started Hesititating and whenever i tried to accelerate the vehicle would slow down like if i was braking? im figuring this is another carb problem i hope it aint anything else <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />.



4.Fuelpump??-When i start the monty it takes a LOTTA time to start, it will turn over and over and over but thats it i gotta pump it, leave it for awile, then return, at times i had to throw gas in the carb to get it started! im thinkin this is probly the fuel pump, i checked the fuel filter too and blew it out with my compressor, then again it could be the carb (thats why i get a new one), but i dont know im not the pro.

5. Battery-The battery dies really quick i dont know why just trying to turn over the engine( since it takes so long to start)it dies if i let it. If you know anything about this post it, other then that it might be the battery itself, its a real scrawny $20 one about 3/4 the size of a regular one? ill probly get a new one 2morrow.

6.Crankshaft,bearings?-when i am blessed and the mitsu starts after about 2minutes theres a irritating,screeching noise the gets louder and louder and stops if i accelerate but soon returns, after about 10minutes the noise fades away and doesnt return. From the Haynes Manual, it says the its a bearing on the crankshaft i think ill have to look it up. any ideas on that?

7.you!- if you have anything else you think i should buy thats important or you think will help the "lunchbox" post it. I live in the smallest of towns so nobody here has ever seen a 1988 montero (feel kinda proud owning one)and I hope you can help me with the problems stated above. If you have any upgrades that benefited your montero/raider post them here too itll only help me to get this car back on its feet. Other then that im gonna get hella500's, paint the grille and headlight holders chrome and some 31 BFG's with some rims that i think i can get some discounted from my brother. all above i can do myself so i dont have to go outta town to get things done or have my chevy x-mechanics work on it lol. anyway Post your best UPgrade too, what you think helped your car the most

P.S i saw a 88 raider/montero A/C compressor on ebay that was used from a junkyard for 50 bucks, he says it works and can be returned for any reason. I just cant see a compressor for $50 when auto stores sell rebuit ones for 300 and up.should i go for it?
