Autozone batteries a very good quality and have the lowest failure rate for any similar battery ( Diehard for example). $55 or so gets you a good one.

Check to see if your choke is closed when you start the motor. ALso look down the primary throttle bore and move the throttle to see if your accelerator pump is working.

The squeel sounds like a fan belt.

As far as the engine goes they have two issues but are generally reliable.

One is the ballance shaft chain can fail if not properly adjusted. If It's its loose and slapping a pivot bolt can break. The chain drives the oil pump, No oil pressure = no motor.

Any aluminum head motor eventuially loses its head gasket, this one is no differant. The hotter they get the sooner it happens. Most last till 170,000 + if you dont overheat them.

The head can crack if you over heat and may crack even if you dont. This is common on aluminum head engines. The upside is they last well enough that if you do yours over by the time it fails again the truck will have been crushed.

The bottom end of these motors is very srtong and not prone to bearing failures (forged steel cranks, beefy rods, very strong block). All motors fail if they dont have oil!
