Local parts store has a special on Class III trailer hitch packages.. ACAR X50 on sale at Pricess Auto for $99
Unfortunatly the box only lists domestic P/U and SUV (F150, Yukon and Dodge) and only 1 import (Toyota Tundra)..
Is there anything significantly different from a domestic pickup frame mount hitch and what a Gen 1 Monty would Need/use?

Besides not fitting Just get the mitsu hitch that bolts right where it's supposed to go ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v637/Liquid_force/trailerhitch.jpg)

if you go with that type you can mod it with blocks or shims to get it to work, i dont know how much you wheel but you will really hurt your departure angle and get hung up more. once i finish mine, ill post a pic... its quite abit different from the one that lrj posted, and it wont hamper my departure angle one bit.

OK...I just ran across it when I was getting some other stuff. There is the chrome step right under the OEM mount so I can not use one like you show. Maybe what I realy need then is to get a weld shop to fab up a custom plate that will hold something like a reese mount then?? ![[Linked Image]](http://www.geocities.com/bill_bly_ca/bumper.jpg)

Funny how things come up in twos and threes on different topics...I *just* posted a pic of the hitch that I'd like to have made in another thread. Here it is again: I think it might work for your app too, Cap'n! That pic came from ebay from years back, but I'm sure it could be made easily enough. PHIL

That would work fabs.. Princess also has class III 2" square , about 10" long, 2" insert that would fit in such a mount and drops about 2.5 to 3" all for $22.. I'll pick one up this week and see if a local shop can weld me one like your picture for me.. Page 7 has the 2" square hitch, They $99 class III frame mount is on the cover.. Princess auto March flier..

That pic Phil posted: That's what I did, except I bypassed the bolt-on backing plate, and welded the tube straight to the rear frame plate!

Phil,
4crawler has the relevant dimensions to make that hitch for you. He made mine for me.

Cap'n, I just checked fleabay, and by George its on there again. Here's a drawing of it: I just worry that the plugin ball mount would hit the back, and not be able to slide in any further, since our mount is solid, ie no hole, where there is one on the plate. How far does a plug-in ball mount need to slide in, in order to be safe, and able to put the pin through? There was more than one on there, Capn', so I'll tell you where I found it if its a viable alternative for us...

Ray Thanks Ray. Do you remember what it cost you? Do you have any pics? And how long does it need to be in order to plug a receiver ball mount in there? (you must've posted the same time I did above... )
