Ok, so I finally figured out how to route the whole harness, but now I can't seem to figure out where these connectors go. I feel real stupid, because it's quit a few wires.. but here's some pictures.

I dont know if this is in the right place, I figured it bolted right there on top of the valve cover.. either way, there's 2 vaccum lines coming out of it, where do those go?

Ok, and the rest of the pictures, I just dont' have a clue where they go..

If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.. this has been the single thing that's been holding me up the longest! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

In the very top pic with the vacuum lines, it 'appears' to be the VSV that applies or removes vacuum to the ADD (Automatic Disconnecting Differential) on the front diff. The vacuum lines should connect to a vacuum cannister in the fender in front of the passenger side front wheel.

Sorry I can't help with the rest of the pix, I have a 3.0 V6 in my 4Runner and not the 4-cylinder.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Yeah, that's where it goes. The hose coming out towards the passenger side, goes to the little regulator for the fuel return. The other one goes to the fitting on the inside of the plenum. It has three nipples and two of them usually are capped. That hose goes on the top nipple.

The blue connector goes to the temperature sender. It's right under where you're holding the wire in the pic.

The next wire goes to the oil pressure sender, on the pass. side of the block.

That hose also goes to the little regulator thing for the fuel return. It is the fuel return hose. The regulator is just behind the plenum below where the EGR pipe bolts on.

Ran into the same problem, even with marks on them. . .I got a few pics of my engine all wired up and hooked up, PM your e-mail and I'll send them to ya. #$&% firewall maeks it a pain to post pics. . .though I'm sure someoen else might have pics of their engine compartment for you to look at. . .

That looks like the "idle up" VSV and the regulator thingy the air bleed adjustment for the air conditioning idle up function..

Don't have that specific vehicle or info on it, but the VSV shown and the "regulator" is identical to the AC idle up hardware used on an '88 Camry 4 banger.. The VSV is wired in parallel into the AC electrical controls so that it does it's thing when the AC compressor clutch is engaged..

blue ended one looks like water temp.
the one with the black cup thing on it is the oil pressure sender right above and infront of the oil filter

in that bottom clump:
the siamesed white connector is for the tranny in an automatic. I think there are two black wires in theat mess you will have to short together to defeat the neutral start switch. I think your back up lights wiring is also in there somewhere, but I forget the colors for that.
the yellow connector goes to the knock sensor, the green square one I'm 99% sure goes to the back of the idle air servo hanging under the throttle body, and the light yellow one with the o-ring (again 99% sure) goes to the 4wd switch

The 3rd looks like the wire that would go over your oil preasure sending unit.IDK tho.

Body Damage is Cool
edit: these pics are all really small b/c photobucket compresses them when you upload them. they didnt used to do this. im pissed. they are huge on my comp. if you want me to zoom in on something and crop them i will.

i took a bunch of pics before i took the engine out but none of them really tell give a good indication of where any of these wires go except for one haha. so heres what i have from memory.

heres one pic where you can kinda see where those vac lines go to.

i think that second blue one plugs into your coolant temp sensor i could be wrong.

the third is definitely your oil pressure sending unit.

the fourth hose is your fuel return line. you definitely need that. i just put a 22re in a 4runner for someone last month and i forgot about it since im used to carbs. gas was pouring all over the starter and pavement each time i turned the key. im lucky i didnt explode.

the fifth set of wires plug in over by your starter, kinda by your slave cylinder they should be hanging there in that area. the yellow one plugs in by your fuel filter and is your knock sensor. i have this pic b/c when i took out the motor i forgot to disconnect the fuel line haha. damn efi trucks have it in the back bolted on and hidden haha. that hose was a pain to find in the boneyard. see the yellow plug next to it though?
