I have a 22rte in my engine, but Mosk is the real expert on them. Harry hit on my big question of how did the P/O plumb in the oil feed and return for the new engine. both go into the 22rte-only block. step one is to dig around that turbo and see how it's oiled. if there's no oil feed, the turbo is not gonna be a happy camper

the second thing to check is a compression test. 22re's are known to eat headgaskets if severely neglected, and you have no idea the history of that 90k mile used motor in your truck.

I'd start with these two issues and we can work from there.
