You can buy a 5 gal bucket of McKay parts dip from you local napa pats store.. last time I bout this stuff it was about $50 for a 5 gal bucketà this stuff works great on just about EVERYTHING!! Parts come out very shiny and need only a rinsing with water.. It will destroy anything that is not metal, phonelic or ceramic.. so make sure everything that is plastic or rubber is off the part you are cleaning or it will be ruined!

I honestly canÆt tell much different between the turbo and NA wiring harness.. just the one connector for the boost sensor but if you gonna buy a new be sure and get the NA!!

Performance wise it makes no difference to the orientation of your distributor, as long as the ignition timing is set correctly and the ignition wires are set in the proper firing order the engine nor the engine electronics can tell the difference

Get the right parts in it first, make sure all those hoses for the evap system you took off are plugged up and change the PCV valve.. If itÆs still doing it then you should pull the radiator cap and see if the coolant is gurgling while the engine is running.. If it is you have some major problems.. a blown head gasket at best or a cracked head and/or block would be the worst! If the coolant isnÆt gurgling then I would do a leak down test to determine whatÆs wore out.. if you have blow by coming out of the oil cap, pressure has to be leaking past the piston rings or the valve guides and valve sealsà do your leak down test with the valve cover off and use an mechanics stethoscope with out the metal end ( just the open tube) and listen for air leaks.. if the sound of air is coming from the oil return holes in the head then your piston rings are leaking.. if its coming from the base of the valve springs then the valve stems and valve seals are leaking..

I was told the same thing......I kinda got scared for a sec when everyone else chimed in to the contary

I would run it as is and see how it goes, if you got problems, change the ECU, still have problems, time to dig into the harness

Remember IIRC, the ECU needs some time to "learn" a new motor or a change in the motor, so it might run badly for a bit, take it for a good test spin each time.....someone who knows more about EFI can chime in now
