Body Damage is Cool
Well I started to build a front winch bumper for my brothers new amigo. He wanted a calmini, but it would have taken awhile for him to get one. So I'm going to build one similer to the calmini.
I started out by building a sub-frame that bolts to the frame. Thats pretty much the only way to get the mounts up high enough. All of the mounts are 1/4", and the sides of the bumper will be 3/16th.I'm going to trim the lower mounts alot, thats why the mounts look so big.I also have two recievers, one on each side. That cardboard is just to show how it mounts.
Anyway I'll post more pics as I build more...

Hmmm...well now Chris you may have to make me one of them bumpers as well. Already got the winch just need the bumper. I like the bolt on type. Looks like your brother is well on his way to being trail ready.

Nice looking welds on that frame. I like the way you are fabricating that bumber using the cardboard cutouts.

I need to take a trip up there to Mansfield for some welding classes

I need to get my spring perches so he can do my SOA on my D50. Looks like Onebadtrooper is the local (for most of us) goto welder I would like some rock rails later on if i can manage to keep a vehicle that long . I have almost had my XJ a year in 3 or 4 months . its a start .

I haven't got too much more done on this. But here is a few more pics. I put in a peice of 2x2" angle to show where the shackle incerts are going to be. I'm going to use two of the warn reciever mounted shackle tabs in the recievers. I still have to finnish welding the sub-frame, after that then the sub-frames done...
