Getting the Wheeling Fever
I buy tires for the wife's car at Costco. Good prices and they include road hazard and mount/balancing. They won't install oversize tires, tho... For my trucks, I buy online, usually from www.tires.com, which is discount tire's online sales. They do free shipping a lot of the time. I get my mounting and balancing done at a small neighborhood tire shop.

I've used Tire Rack for tires the last few times and it has worked well and also Summit Racing. I picked up some inexpensive mounting and balancing tools from Harbor Freight and now mount/balance my own tires.

Sweet Roger, I'd love to do my own mounting and balancing. It probably helps that you run the Centramatic wheel balancers though.

Yes, the Centramatics help out since you only need to get the balance close. I just use a bubble balancer and stick on weights. But you can also play around with rotating the tire on the wheel to get a better balance w/o adding weights.

Roger,
Please explain further about which tools you use to mount and balance your own tires.

Thanks!

I was looking at that buy 3 get 1 free the other day with a couple issues of 4wheel mag and the free mag from 4wps. here is what I came up with for 1 tire I was looking at.
33x12.50 X-terrain 189.99 (normal rate for 3 months straight. 4 tires $759.96
so 189.99 x 3 = $569.97
advertised buy 3 get 1 deal was $635.00 for 4 tires.
Yeah its a good sale, but its no buy 3 get 1 free by $65 bucks difference. just something I noticed.

Yeah, that's how they usually work those 4 for 3 sales. Jack up the regular price so that the price for the 3 items is about what you would have paid for the 4 on sale the week before
