It will only affect the oil pressure if it was missing that race that goes in the block.
My turbo engine has the elimination kit in it, and it does give out some more vibration around mid-rpms, but not all that bad, I just remember that it's a utility vehicle and don't expect it to ride as nice as my Honda.

Is the ôraceö that hollow sleeve that is in the hole?

Yes, it just blocks off the oil flow to what would have been the balance shaft to keep your oil pressure up.

Mitsubishi Patented the balance shaft idea. Now that the patent has expired, others are using balance shafts. GM Ecotec engine is one example. I would not take it out.

I guess I am still lost. The sleeve doesnÆt seem to be blocking anything. The hole is still there.

Were not talking about that big hole, it's a little oil port below the race. If the race was not there the oil would squirt out to fast and you would loose oil pressure.

The sleeve blocks a drilled oil passage that connects to the #1 main bearing. The hole its blocking is about .08ö in diameter and perpendicular to the large hole. Balance shafts date back to the 1900Æs, Mitsubishi patented an implementation of them. The idea itself has been around for a very long time. Les was 20 seconds faster in his response  Kevin

I've had my balance shafts out since my rebuild about 60K miles ago -- I can't tell any difference at all. Less to wear, less to brake. IMHO I can't see any reason to keep them -- sure wouldn't go through the trouble of reinsalling them if they were already removed. I have my old ones (which I don't believe have any problems) -- you can have them for postage cost if you want them.

I gotcha now. I suppose that I am just real nervous about this whole thing. It is my first time and I am afraid of trowing all of this money away.
How about a really silly question? What is the proper way to put gasket sealant on and why are there two colors(blue and red)? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

while you are at it...
Get some new motor mounts. That will help isolate the motor a bit better and lessen the amount of vibration transmitted.
I find it interesting that some notice the shafts missing yet others dont. To me it was very obvious in feel and sound when I took them out of my blue Raider.
Do any of you get a vibration in your rear view mirror at highway speeds where it the images go in a little circle?
