Need a Spot
Finally posting my truck here. I bought it late last fall. Its a 89 extended cab pickup with the 3.0, and 215k on it when I bought it. It came with a Topper when came in handy a few times. After a few months though I needed to take it off to fit some stuff in the back of the truck. And it has not gone back on. I picked up a truxedo Tonneau cover off ebay for it and love it.

The mods have still been fairly light. But the truck looks completly different already. The very first thing I did to it was to strip off the side decals. And I followed that up with a basic cd player. Then the mods had to go on hold until winter passed, I hate working on trucks in the cold!

Winter is still here, but the weather has warmed up. We have had a few days in the 40's and even 50's. We still have snow though, hopefully that will be gone soon.

A couple months ago I marked my fenders for trimming with a sharpie. I left them this way for quite some time, I did not want to trim them until I had new tires to put on the truck. I also picked up a set of Cragar 15x8 soft 8 rims from summit a couple months back. And just a few weeks ago I finally found a set of used tires I was happy with and picked them up. 33x12.5 supper swamper TSL's, one was brand new with the sticker on it too.

I had them mounted the next day and put them on the truck. I relocated the computer before doing any clearance work on the firewall. I hammered the pinch welds flat and hammmered back the firewall a bit. The following weekend I trimmed the fenders and rolled the edges back.

Over the weekend I found a set of Saturn seats I liked at the junk yard, they told me I could pick them up on Monday. So I did and I installed the Passenger side seat Monday night. And last night I put in the drivers side seat. But of corse now I want to move the passenger seat over a couple inches to match the drivers seat. And I want to raise the back of it as well. But there is plenty of room inbetween the seats for a center console, I'll start mocking that up this weekend with cardboard.

And here is my list of mods to do next. Order AAL's, new shocks, and a spare tire from Summit. Order and install ball joint spacers. And order and install some sliders. I also found a cheap bumper locally that I should be getting in a couple weeks. I am only going to lift the truck a inch and a half up front, and then I will level out the rear end. I am going to start with the AAL and see where that puts me. Then if I need more I will order shackles for the rear.

And I plan to repair a lot of the rust buy replacing sections of sheet metal. Once the bed is repaired I will Herculine it.

Well here are some pictures of the truck, from when I first got it to where it sits today, well no pictures of the new seats just yet.

After I first got the truck

Decals stripped, topper removed, fenders marked and the worst one trimmed already to remove all the rust it had.

And with the new rims and tires, and tonneau cover.

Yeah... I always loved visiting my mom and sis in "Minnesnowta" in my 4Runner... The looks I got driving around in a rust-free 87 Toyota were priceless.

Getting the same thing here in Germany, but I know I have to keep the 4Runner immaculate while here to prevent corrosion...

Does the paint match ok where you removed the stipes? It looks good in the pics.

The black wheels on the gray truck look great.

wait a tick, just looked over your pics again, i wont say a town or address, but that is not the bridge to Manitou island in the backround is it? I also noticed the radio K sticker on the topper. If so that is funny because the landscaping company that i work for does quite a bit of work within a few blocks of there, on and off of the island, beautiful lake and area.
