Will I have any problems using a D44 from a 1978 Jeep Cherokee for a future SAS project?
I know of a family friend in San Antonio who had the Jeep sitting at his house for 5 years with a broken motor. I finally ran into him at an HEB and I asked him about the diff. He told me that the front diff was working great before he blew the engine and that he had even put manual hubs on it. He is asking for 90.00 for the front diff with the steering linkage.
Even though my SAS is still sometime away IÆm thinking of purchasing the diff because I think itÆs a good price.
Let me know what you guys think.

I believe that year Cherokee had 2 axles. The Wide Track axle came in 2 doors with fender flares, and the narrow track came with ones without flares, generally.
It's still a D44, though. Other then that, you'll need to figure out what side the pumpkin is on.

I saw your signature: ô94 Rodeo sas'd front dana 44(coil sprung)ö
I tried to go and look at your Webshots pictures but your site is down for because of high volume. (Edit: I got it to work!)
IÆm thinking of putting coils in the front also. I will keep looking to see if you site comes up so that I can look at your front suspension setup.

The webpage doesn't work because the link is not set up correctly. Once you click the link, look at the address in your window browser and you will see there is an extra [url at the end. Erase that from the address and hit enter and you'll be good to go <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Yes, thanks. I had edited my response with (I got it to work!) earlier. I played around with the url when I noticed it did not look right. Here is the corrected URL: http://community.webshots.com/user/94rodeo

78 won't have flat top knuckles, IIRC

I will get the link fixed. My axle doesn't have the flat top knuckles, but they can be added if needed.
