Need a Spot
This has probably been discussed before, but I'm falling into some questions that doesn't sound too right. I have a 1990 Jeep Wrangler and I would like to do a Engine Change from a Carb. I6 to a 95 Chevy Camaro V8 FI. I'm having touble figuring out "IF" I do put the V8 in, would I need a new transmission or is the stock version sufficent enough. Is it as simple as a cover change? I'm not really sure... Also I have a Ford 5.0L V8 with a Bronco Tranni, that I was thinking about putting into the Jeep as well, now if someone can help me figure this transmission thing with the Camaro engine, then that would be great, then I can save the Ford for another project. First of all, what transmission are you talking about? Second, what do you intend to do with the Jeep after the swap? Off road? Mall Crawling? Daily driver? Read this article,
Web Page

It may answer your questions. There is a lot of useful info on Novak's site.

dont know if this will help but it might give some things to look at. I just recieved the a new 4wheeldrive mag. and it goes over the v8 conversion and everything you would need to do it. from engine to t-case. of course its not a camaro engine i think they use an eldbrock motor. but anyways couldnt hurt to look. there sight is 4wd.com ...might be there also..hope it helps..

Wow, thanks for that website. It has great information I can use. I'm not really sure what tranny I'm using. I'm trying to figure out if the 5 speed from a stock jeep is sufficient for a Gen II Chevy Engine. As for where I'm going, just around town, I don't do major crawling or anything like that. Occasionally I'll take a trail or two, thatÆs it.

If you have a 5 speed manual behind a six cyl in a 90 Wrangler it is an AX-15.

If you are putting a chevy engine in there you would be nuts not to put in a 700r,350 or 400 turbo.
