Now there are tricks to overcoming drag, we learned some of those on the faster racetracks and the surprise is they work some for a street vehicle running fast. The problem is that at 80 we are talking perhaps 1-2 mph tops, not enough gain.

At 180, well...yea, big difference. At those speeds, a piece of tape in the right place has been known to add 4-5 mph.

80 MPH basically shoving a wall is a lot of load, as you are finding out.

Another point here is did you regear the speedometer? If not, then you may be going faster than you think already.

More tricks are to put everything on a diet, lose weight anyplace you can spare it, it often amazes me the difference lighter wheels make.

But to boost power? Well, next is to shove fuel and air in there, this means turbo or supercharger.

On that point, I keep hearing of the tailpipe mounted turbo setups, it sounds odd to me but I have never had the opportunity to experiment.

There is a cost effective maybe, anyone with any experience? I would like to know....*EB
