Need a Spot
OK, I also got an LCE dual row conversion kit. My buddy (physics teacher) decides to see how the oil pump works before I inspected it. There is an arrow on each gear in there. Is there any rhyme or reason to that? He spun the gears before I could see how they arrived. Also, does the dimple on the drive spline have to line up with anything in the pump? Should I fill it with oil now or wait and do it through the relief valve just before starting? Is there another method to make sure it primes upon the first startup?

Thank you all for your help and guidance. I've never been brave enough to tackle a Japanese motor rebuild until now.

been a while since i've pulled the drive spline off -- i *THINK* you face the dimpled side out. as for the arrows on the pump gears, no wrong way to put them in, as long as the gears are facing the right side(and i think unless there's arrows on both sides, just put the arrows facing you when you assemble the pump).

pack the pump with white lithium grease or vaseline before installation
