Are these sealed bearings? Are they difficult/expensive to change?? Is there a way to check them without pulling every thing apart????

Yes they are sealed. They have to be pressed out with a 3 ton hydrlic press. The intire spindle needs to be removed from the truck to press the bearing off. The bearing is 60 bucks, one per spindle, it is basically two very large bearing in a double race. No way to even see it without pulling the front axle shafts, even then you will not see much.

All this needs to be changed out for the Manual Hub kit. Also the bearings get destroyed when pressing them out.

Since the bearings are sealed, does that mean that they're maintenance-free? If not, what's standard maintenance on a sealed bearing?

Main-free. Nothing to do. You couldn't do anything even if you wanted to.

Good to know! I don't know how many times the stealer tried to persuade me to get my brakes done in their shop, talking about how involved the job is, and how they have to re-pack the bearings. I held out for a little while, got the cross-drilled rotors (more for cosmetics than anything else, because I don't know that they've helped me brake any better) and Performance Friction pads, and I did the swap myself in a couple hours...
