Need a Spot
Im planing on getting a new engine for my truck because my 3.0 shot two rods out. Everyone says to just do the 3.4 swap. I found an offroads solution kit for around 1700 and I can get a brand new 3.4 engine from jasper for 4000. But I'm woundering how hard the swap would be. the only car I've ever done a swap on is a 1972 dodge dart. Does anyone know If the wiring is a pain in the butt..

Not if you buy the harness from Off Road Solutions, they are custom made to each order. It makes the swap a plug-and-play affair. Since you retain the stock radiator, transmission, etc, this is one of the easier motor swaps you can do.

Check with Jasper your motor may only be a short block...
but for 4 grand they might just throw in everything...hope so for the price.
How about a used motor with low miles?

Jasper is just the long block prob, you will still need valve covers, intake, exhaust, computer, wiring harness, EVERYTHING...

there are some 3.4L motors for sale out there, most of them ive seen are out of California, expect to pay about $2k on a used 3.4L, check with some junk yards on the motor, public auctions sometimes can get you a totalled tacoma or 4runner for a few thousand with a motor in it.

The wiring is kind of a pain.....but not enough of one to get me to shell out $700 for the ORS conversion harness. But, the ORS harness would make things go a LOT quicker and easier.

Not yet. I still need to lengthen one of my AC hoses coming from the compressor and get the thing recharged. that's another spring project, I need to get to.

Are you using the 3.4 AC lines or the 3.0 lines?

I'm using the whole 3.0L system...lines and compressor, all I did was change the pulleys....the 3.0L haa a "V" belt, 3.4L has a serpitine belt.
