Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thank you for all the advice. I have been told that you need to both at the same time. The only reason I want to change the whole system is because the carter BBD floods out when I am four wheeling (low speeds low rpm) not at highway speeds. Other wise the system runs great. If there was a way to fix this flooding problem I would leave it the same. Any suggestions on how to fix the flooding problems.

Greg if that carb is flooding on you then ANY carb will do the same. A carb is simply a bowl of fuel with something like a soda straw in it, all of the fuel goes through the soda straw into the engine.. When the bowl gets at too much of an angle the fuel in the bowl trickles out and into the engine WITHOUT going through the soda straw.. THIS causes the mixture to be too rich to burn.
Since all carbs operate the same they will all flood at near the same angle. Certain carbs have mods that can be made for "slosh" and "bumps" And "sevier cornering, stops and starts" But the angle thing (unknown in advance angles) just cannot be fixed.
The answer is TB or direct injestion.
You can help your problem by using LOW range and LOW gear keeping the RPM up will help the engine to injest the extra fuel. Might stop some of the flooding issues.

Big Jim

Would the nutter bypass help? It is my understanding that doing this would allow me to set the lean/rich mixture on the carb not the computer.

Greg many of them run real good with the bbd in there and all hooked up. If after doing the nutter and setting the timing the thing still acts up you can disconnect the electric plug from the carb when the jet is in the RICH position. Then you can adjust the idle adjusters and see if that helps.
These two mods will effect the exhaust and prolly FAIL a sniffer test (I do not really KNOW). The nutter does not effect the carb but it may effect the exhaust enough to make the computer run the mixture too lean.
