Well, chit. Never thought I'd do it... hell, I never thought anyone would ever ASK! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I sold Uzi at 1:30pm on Saturday. Had him out getting gas (only the second fill-up ever after the 302 went in), and a guy pulled up in a c-l-e-a-n 32 Ford Deuce 5-window with a fair bit of rumble. As I was admiring his ride, he said he'd always wanted to 'wheel, but hadn't ever... we talked a little more, turns out his ride was all tin (no æglass -- you know how long that takes, or how much that COSTS?) and I said I had quite a weak spot for the Blue Oval, and had been spinning a few wrenches on one myself. He asked what I had at home that was Ford, and I chuckled, and said it was right here with me...

I walked over and reached into the right front fenderwell -- maintaining eye contact -- then lit off the Ford with my remote key. I had his attention -- we pulled away from the pumps and over to the side to continue our B.S. session. He folded his cowl up and over, and I pulled the pins and flipped my hood. He had me on the pretty, but I had him on the squeeze-fit, wiring, and weird. We played show-and-tell for nearly an hour; everything was going fine until he asked for a number.

I blinked, and glibbed out something well past the point of reason.
He didnÆt blink... but stuck out his hand. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

He asked me if I could follow him back to his house to close the deal. I asked him (stupidly) if he was serious -- he said not only was he serious, but that he'd put $2500 cash earnest money on it today and meet me with the balance at his bank on Monday morning for final handoff. I mulled it over as I followed him to his place, and by the time I pulled around and behind the two double-bay house garage, stopping in front of his three-bay two-story back garage, I was sure. With his cash, the 2WD '89 Amigo I have in storage, and what I've got in my garage, I'm on my way. Monday morning IÆll call Marlin to buy an R151 to go behind the 4ZE1 bell and clutch (still have æem from before the Ford mill), and in front of the spare Toy t-case I have and the spare Dana 300 a buddy has. I'll flip that 300 and use it to drive the Ford Snowfighter 60s I already have. Having done a SAS once, I know exactly how I want to do it. Leaf springs all around for simplicity, and Hummer rims to keep it narrow -- I'll probably run IROK 39.5x13.50s, since I have the cash now.

Kammy was a bit bewildered when I told her about it, but has been a sport. The 25-stack of C-notes may have something to do with that, or perhaps it is the balance that we get on Monday. SheÆs already started it on the wisecracks, so I know sheÆs cool with it. The 2WD has a cherry body, and sheÆs already asked when itÆll get the first dent.

So goodbye to the past...

...and hello to the future. I pulled my little 2WD Amigo out of storage this afternoon, and will put it in the shop tomorrow.

How many days until Moab? Should be pretty close if I stick with the 4ZE1.

I guess that we both now have an excuse for not having a vehicle at Moab! Congratulations, I think.

Good story Randii, I sold my '64 truck about the same way a few weeks back. I'd been working on it off and on for a few years took it out to put gas in it(first time under it's own power). A guy pulled in a old stingray rumbling, I had left mine running wasn't sure it would start when hot. He heard the cam in mine we started talking and the next thing I knowed he was driving it off. I put the nobody will buy it price on it so I thought. There's a few things I wanted to change so I guess this time I'll do something different.

Wow, thats got to be one of those funny gut feelings...

Are you sure there wasn't any performance anxiety involved? I mean, not having it with you in moa b for a few years can lead a man to make irrational decisions <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

Just teasin, I've had that feeling before with cars, it feels weird and good at the same time...

No way would this even happen. Such an unbelievable story, not to mention that you would never part with it.

Nice try though... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

Well I'm still thinking this must be a April Fools thing!! After all the hard work you put into that ride, I just don't see that happening.

Then again cash changes ones mind fairly easly <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
