Having trouble getting the wheel hub apart to change out the bearings and seals. The axel came out of the hub now I need the hub out of the bearings. Put alot of pressure from a hydraulic press on it and then got scared of breaking the piece. Am I missing something? All of the bolts are out but still not comming apart. need help. Hub has 197,000 miles on it from the look of the u-joint which is also getting replaced not been well cared for.

According to my local parts store, you replace hub and bearing as an assembly on a 4wd 89 cherokee. They sell bearings only, for 2wd only.

I don't know what if any the difference is between the 2wd and the 4wd in the 89. My 93 2wd uses the same hub as a 4wd but the whole hub has to be changed. I just looked it up at partsamerica.com and saw they list bearings for 2wd and hub assemblies for 4wd. ???? press on it some more, if it breaks or bends, a new one can be had for around $68. Maybe it was previously replaced with a unit that isn't supposed to come apart. Good luck!
