Vehicle: 96 Taco, V6, 4wd, ex-cab, 5spd.
Problem: I took the rear driveshaft apart the other night to replace the universal joint at the rear axle. I unbolted it from the flange on the axle and pulled the slip yoke apart. I didn't think to mark the orientation of the slip yoke before I pulled it apart.
Does anyone know any tricks to getting it lined up again? Or am I just in for a long night of trial and error after work tonight.
Thanks guys.

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />ALWAYS mark drive shafts!!! AFAIK, there is no way to tell, unless you can use something else for orientation, like scratches from brush, etc on the shaft.
BTW, for future reference, it's usually much easier to take the whole drive shaft off at once.....you might not have any problems with it, put her back together and see if you have any vibrations, if not, you're prob good to go.

Line up the 'ears' with the opposite end. I usually prefer to put the trucks on jacks and 'drive' it to make sure I'm in phase, so I don't fubar anything.

Thanks guys.
I either got lucky on the first try or it didn't make much difference on my truck.

I've done that one a couple times myself <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
