Need a Spot
hey everyone, im new to the board here and i just have a few questions about my recently purchased 89 Raider V6.

Alright, well last week i was out in the snow in the Raider and i was having problems with my auto-hubs locking. The dash showed that they were locked, but i wasnt getting and drive from them. Ive read on some posts that this happens because of the cold conditions and just to let the hubs warm up. When i was having my little off road adventure, such information never came to mind, so i just kept going. So i got home and went under the vehicle and turned the front driveshaft to lock the hubs and see if it was the hubs and not the transfer case. So it seemed to lock and i thought that it must have been the snow. Later in the day i go back out and start it up, and start driving away. Problem being that as soon as i started to go i hear "TICK TICK TICK" from my drivers side hub. Ever since then it sounds like theres something in the hub rolling around. Im hoping i didnt blow the CV or something like that. Anyway i was wonder if anyone has had such a problem and if so, did they just buy a set of manual hubs to fix it? or am I way off?

Thanks for any help

Welcome Tyler.

I'm not 100% sure it's your hubs but based on the number of problems we hear about I suspect it is the cause.

When was the last time you serviced your hubs (clean, relube, etc.)?

My understanding is if they're not serviced regularly then this is very likely to happen.

Obviously age & wear are also major contributing factors.

I think when you turned the driveshaft you partially engaged the hubs, did you try backing up to unlock the hub?

I bought the vehicle a month ago, from a family friend. It was regularly serviced, women driven. So the extent of use of the hubs and when they were serviced arent really known. I was planning on changing out the auto-hubs for manual ones anyway. Im just hoping thats my problem

If backing up didn't help it's time for SuperWinch!

The only Manual hubs are made by Superwinch or Aisin. You should look up a Mitsubishi Montero of the same year. They'll find it.
