This is THE WINCH! Not the strongest, but for an 8000lbs winch, this is the marker that all others are judged by. The gearing is different which allows for the extremely fast line speed. The only issue, is that this winch is large and eats up a ton of grill space.

My theory for winches is this, buy something that is bigger than what you will need and be patient. Unless you are running in some sort of timed competition, then speed is ususlly not a factor. Do not stall the winch and bind it. If the load is not moving, you are burning up the motor.

All winches are made basically the same, with the same motor (starter motor) and same planetary gearing. However, the Warn 8274 is different in its gearing, allowing for the legendary strength, speed and durability. The 8274 will break, it is not bullet proof. But, if you can get a good deal on one, go for it. The main reason I don't have one is I cannot justify $1200 for a winch that may get used 1 or 2 times a year.

Good choice for a winch though.

Thanks,
James
