I had to pull my right outer axle shaft the other day because of a 20 year old u-joint gave up...go figure.
I drove it about 25 miles and the stupid right side axle seal started to leak, pretty good too.
I plan to replace this axle w/ one w/ 4.10s that I have, but is waiting for the 8.8 w/ 4.10s to join it. So until that is ready I have to keep the old one functioning if I want to continue riding. I am only putting in this one what it needs not rebuild it. I have seen the nice write up in the tech section on replacing the seals on a non-CAD D30. The seal is obviously outboard the CAD on the right side. How does it install? In though the tube from the end? or in though the CAD? I have a list of special tools that the FSM says to use on this seal but little as far as procedures. Any tips or tricks from some that have done this install .....successfully
