Flowmaster super 40 or 60 sereis #714826 04/11/06 05:40 PM

I have been thinking of getting getting a flowmaster muffler for my 2000 toyota 4runner sport with the trd supercharger. I have looked at the flowmaster super 40 and then the flowmaster 60 series. What I am looking for is increased power and acceleration. I also would like for it to not hurt my gas mileage.

I was wondering if anyone knew much about these and could offer me any ideas about them. People say it can add like 50 hp by putting these on. Does anyone know if this is true? I could probably get either of them for 85-100 dollars.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get more power, acceleration, etc for fairly cheap? Also, what other brands would u suggest if not flowmaster? Thanks alot.

You may want to try some sort of straight through style muffler, like magnaflow or the dynomax ultrflow mufflers. I doubt you will see 50 hp from the muffler, maybe 5-10 if your lucky. IMHO, flowmasters sound better on larger displacement motors, I have one on my 4.0 explorer and it sounds good, but it sounds much better on V-8s and such.

Body Damage is Cool
No way your gonna add horsepower by putting a different muffler on, all you're doin is freein up the potential HP that your motor had, that the restrictive stock exhaust was holding back. And 50 is WAY high, if you replace the entire exhaust with some free flowing manderal bent pipes, that's where you start so see some gains, but probally in the neighborhood of 5-10.

Now the TRD supercharger, that's where you start to see some HP.

flowmasters sound great, i've got one on my 22R with a cam and some other stuff, really lets everything flow better. Make sure to get a hi-flow/oversized cat along with the exhaust system so you don't restrict the flow at all, especially with that supercharger
hope this helps

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ive got a Flowmaseter Cat back on my 2nd gen. Runner. Sounds Great and gave some HP increase. prob in the 5-10 range. I also gaind about 1-2 more miles per gal. Good amount of increase for cost. only cost me $20-30 more than a stock replacement would have.

When mine gets grabbed by a rock this is what I am replacing it with.
Flowmaster Offroad series Mufflers
Right now the factory suitcase on mine is lowest point but I just cant snag it...and I cant justify to the wife having to replace it when its not broke. Oh well it will happen eventually.
