That's a tough lookin' bumper on a tough lookin' rig Scott!

Whattaya think about adding some "jail bars" to it, in the grille space ?

Gonna paint it ? (black I assume?)

Any concern over losing the air to the rad from the holes under the original ??

Thanks, we were trying to retain some of the original styling of the stock bumper, Yea, we have a rocking full guard to incorporate onto the top, the air vents will be matched to the portable wench reciever and yea, flat black to match the wheels and safari rack project.
I'm pretty sure this will be a prototype for Sonny's first product.

3/16 steel, and some heat for the tightest radius, did'nt even need the torch, just a little bottle of MAP gas.
Have about 6 hours in it so far but the gusset work and mounting brackets will be next. I plan to take more technical pics during that phase.

Are you going to sink a winch in that thing. You did a really nice smooth job on that.

did you make templates for it. I am inbetween building a steel bumper or going with tube. I like the tube for the wieght but I could paint an all steel bumper the same color as the truck and look almost stock.

Made a full mock up in trusty old card board, we have more than 1 rig so to save some $$ were gonna spring for 1 Warn 9,500 portable, so we will modify an off the shelf receiver.
It will also help to keep the profile closer to stock styling but still give some GET OUT OF THE WAY! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

That's just whut I was thinkin!

I'm waiting to see the "Diamond Plate" version!

Have ya thought up a similar design for the Gen1 ?

and matching rear bumper ?

I was thinkin' about sumthin' the other day...
I was wondering if it would make any sense to make a sorta "bumper cover" ... like what you built, but that would just bolt on top of the existing bumper ??? Drill a few holes in the old meat, and bolt the thing right on top .

Is that a dumb idea ?
