Well, I pretty much knew that it was more than just the timing chain guides, I figured I'd be tearing the 22re back apart to pull the head ... but it looks as though the knock is deeper than that.

This morning, I used a stethoscope trying to locate the exact location of the loud knock and although it sounded like it was mainly comming from the top end it was pretty noisy from the bottom end as well.

Somewhat disappointed, I began to strip 'er down, getting ready to pull engine. Have you ever noticed how it's much easier taking the same things apart a second time? ...

It's funny how disappointment can soon turn to joy as you realize that you're going to end up with a nice rebuilt engine in the long run.

Any tips on pulling this baby out?
Radiator's out, manifolds will be off, alt/ PS/ AC will be off. I figure on renting or borrowing a cherry picker.

I've got 4WD/IFS so I suppose I need to drop that down.

Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks ...
