It's definately a great learning experience.
I rebuilt my first engine when I was 20 yrs old, it was a 1967 Austin Healey Sprite ... very fun rebuild and fun car to drive. I'll never forget how it felt when I was driving it shortly after the rebuild and the rings finally seated in the honed cylinders and all of a sudden I had about 20% more horse power ...
