I don't know much about them, so please forgive me ahead of time

Are there any factory settings, such as turns on the idle & mixture screws on the 22r carb? My truck is running rich and i'd like to set it to factory and then work from there if it's possible.

I ask this because i've had some experience with the carbs on the jet skis we have, setting the highs and lows for performance, but they also have a specific factory setting, such as turn then all the way in, then so many turns & fractions of turns out

Is there such a thing for my carb? 84' 22r.

Tried the search, and my service manual..no such luck

Thanks in advance.

is the cap for your idle mixture screw off or still in place?

Yep, the cap does help keep the screw in place. people have said a drop of sillicone helps keep it in place without the cap.

best thing to do right now is to carefully count the number of turns IN the screw goes until bottoming out. That will give you a base number to work with. Problem is there are a few different specs for different carbs.

The other thing is that will only really effect idle mixture. once you gas it the idle circut cuts off.

Carbs are also mechanical will passages and jets that don't really get bigger with time. The see very little metal/metal wear. Rarely is the carb at fault for being rich. Remember, a rich situation can be caused both by too much gas, or not enough air.

this autozone page has just about every adjustment you make on these carbs. If yours is an '84, then it looks like you want the idle mixture screw to be 4turns out from fully closed. Like Josh said.. if you're missing the cap that holds the screw in place, then a dab of rtv on the thread should work.

if it's running rich, it could be that the AAP needs to be replaced.

Kyle is dead on. Disconnect it, plug both ends, I'll bet your problem is solved . Replace it if you are in a cold climate though.
