The do not install longer shocks is totally my opinion only.
The stock shocks hold the lower control arm "up" 3/4" at the mounting point. Thus the shock acts as a limit strap for droop.

I have seen it happen, also why use a longer shock???????in a fixed location like the front of our ifs if you add a longer shock-------->say 3" longer like alot of folks do because they have a 3" lift................then guess what??????----------->you just lost 3" of up travel.

The front suspension on 2nd gens(an others) has droop and compression stops. The range of motion is ~9" so if shock length is changed to say a 3" longer shock, the suspension will still only operate in the stock range of motion. So it will droop almost the same~~3/4"more til the upper control arm bends the upper stop bracket and then binds the rack if the drooped tire is turned hard to the inside.
but you will loose 3" of up travel because the shock will bottom it self internally before the lower bump stop comes into play.

Yes you can flip the upper balljoint,I only recommend it for use with stock lenght shocks,my opinion and .02.
Flipping allows~3/8 more droop but several degrees of camber fix,I was able to get more than 1" more alignable crank out of it.
