Another thing to consider.... Turbo Diesel. For the amount of time/money to build a turbo setup for 22RE/T, you may come out swapping in a 1KZTE. These have about 140hp/250ft/lbs tq from the factory. Then just a few minor tuning upgraded to ECM and 175/300 is easily done while keeping Toyota reliability. Plus 30mpg hwy and 25mpg in town. Total swap usually costs around 4K in parts. They run in the same RPM range as the 22R so it's pretty straigt forward. Hardest part is replacing the wiring harness.
