That's a new one on me. Needs a engine swap cause a seal is leaking? Sounds fishy.

Lol thats all we do around here is trade stuff...he is also painting my jeep for me...hell I just got another jeep today that has a 4.0 H.O. that needs a motor swap because the rear main is leaking oil....its a 93 and the guy is giving me the one Im taking out as payment for doing it..

The rear main is a $10 part and the only special tool you need is a torque wrench (fly and clutch), which is cheap and a good item to have anyway. I just had to replace mine. Unless there is damage to the block in that area its a cheap fix...monitarily...and then the motor is fine (assuming all else is well). So unless there is some other reason to swap the engine you don't need to. I would be worried about what it is being replaced with. The guy doing it probably knows that its an easy and inexpensive fix when the engine is already out. Is he replacing it with some POS junk yard motor that never had an oil change?

And are you sure it is the rear main? Could it be the oil pan? Twice as costly ($20) but much easier to get to.

No he has other motors...and instaed of PAYING me cash Im putting a different motor in it since it has to be pulled anyways to replace the seal...and as my payment I am going to keep this motor.

I just don't know why these folks are having such a problem believing you. Some people just have too much money, that's all. I once knew a guy that would buy a new car, drive it until it needed tires, and then get a new one because he didn't want to be bothered by it! Must be rough

Your post led me to believe it was your truck. That actually sounds about right for trade. Labor on an engine swap would be horrible; could easily go over the amount it costs to buy a used engine, even one in great shape.
